About Anthem Medicare

Anthem entered the health insurance space in 1946. The company as it exists today was formed through mergers and acquisitions, including the merger with WellPoint Health Networks in 2004. Anthem offers Medicare Advantage (Part C), Medicare Supplement (Medigap), Prescription Drug Plans (Part D), and Special Needs Plans (SNPs) in 14 states.

Anthem now offers the following Medicare plans in 14 states:

Medicare Advantage HMO Plans

  • These plans offer lower costs and require members to use doctors and hospitals within Anthem’s network. Most HMO plans include Medicare Parts A, B, and D, and offer $0 monthly premiums, dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits. Referrals may be required for specialists.

Medicare Advantage PPO Plans

  • PPO plans provide more flexibility, allowing members to see doctors both in and out of network without referrals. These plans also include Parts A, B, and usually D, and offer benefits like dental, vision, hearing, SilverSneakers®, and telehealth. Out-of-network care may come with higher costs.

Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs)

  • Designed for individuals who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. These plans include enhanced benefits such as dental, vision, hearing, prescription drug coverage, and a flexible spending allowance. Most or all costs may be covered depending on eligibility.

Anthem Benefits Prepaid Card (Essential Extras)

  • Available with many Medicare Advantage plans, this flex card provides allowances for groceries, over-the-counter items, utilities, transportation, and assistive devices. Members can choose up to two benefits based on their plan and location.

You can explore these plans further on Anthem’s Medicare Advantage Plans page. Let me know if you’d like help comparing these options or tailoring them to a specific ZIP code.
