Overview 

Premier Reverse Mortgage is a boutique reverse mortgage company that offers personal service, but it is only available in a handful of states.  

Premier offers traditional Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECM), HECM for purchase, and a special reverse mortgage for those who own a condo.  

It also offers several guides to educate homeowners about reverse mortgages including a Reverse Mortgage Guide, Reverse Mortgage Guide for Adult Children, and a Reverse Mortgage Purchase Guide.

Reverse Mortgage Loan Application Process 

Here is the application process as described by Premier:  

• Loan application. Premier Reverse says that in some states it will file the loan application as the first step, which includes signing the application and submitting requested documents. However, in some states the application is not submitted until after the HUD counseling session is completed.  
• HUD approved counseling. Whether the counseling session is required before or after the application, in order to get approved for a reverse mortgage, homeowners must complete a counseling session. The counseling may take place in person or over the phone. Once the counseling session is over, you will receive a certificate. Once that is sent to Premier, the appraisal can take place.  
• Appraisal. You will be contacted by the appraiser to make an appointment. You will have to pay the appraisal company for its services. The completed appraisal will be sent to Premier, who will send you a copy along with information about how the findings affect your loan.   
• Closing. The closing will take place at your home or at the title company.
